ABOUT CATSA 2022
After prodigious successes of 31 annual conferences of the Catalysis Society of South Africa (CATSA), we are proud to announce the 32nd international CATSA conference to take place during 13 – 16 November 2022 at the luxurious Champagne Sports Resort in the Central Drakensberg, in KwaZulu-Natal Province of South Africa. The conference is themed “Integration and Synergies between Homogeneous and Heterogeneous Catalysis” and will bring together leaders and future leaders from academia, industry and government laboratories to discuss, disseminate information and share ideas on advancing theoretical and practical concerns in the field of Catalysis.
CONFERENCE INFO
New types of catalysts and catalytic processes are central to the future of a sustainable chemical industry and environment. CATSA annual conferences are the most popular series of conferences in South Africa in the field of catalysis which brings together experts from across the world to discuss, disseminate information and share ideas on advancing the field of catalysis. From the first conference that was held in 1989 in Rustenburg with only a small number of participants, the conferences have now grown to well over 250 people with an increased international participation. The conferences have also ensured that there is a strong national integration between sub disciplines such as homogeneous, heterogeneous, and bio- catalysis. Today the widespread presence of graduates from the early days in senior positions in industry and universities is evidence of how successful the conferences have become.
Some of the most eminent scientists like Prof Graham Hutchings of Cardiff Catalysis Institute at Cardiff University, Prof Enrique Iglesia of Berkeley College of Chemistry, University of California, Berkeley, Prof Avelino Corma of the Institute of Chemical Technology (ITQ-CSIC-Polytechnical University of Valencia), Prof Sir Dave King, Head of the Climate Crisis Advisory Group and from University of Liverpool, Prof Lovat Rees of Imperial College London, Prof Abhaya Datye, University of New Mexico, Prof David Cole-Hamilton, School of Chemistry at University of St. Andrews, Prof Hans Niemantsverdriet of Eindhoven University of Technology in the Netherlands, Prof Gabriele Centi of University of Messina, Prof Walter Leitner, Director of the Max Planck Institute for Chemical Energy Conversion and RWTH Aachen University, Prof Bert Weckhuysen of Utrecht University, Prof Bruce Gates of University of California, Davis, Prof Hubert Gasteiger at Technical University Munich, Prof Ulrike Diebold of TU Wien, Vienna University of Technology, Prof Martin Albrecht of University of Bern, Prof Peter Wasserscheid of University of Erlangen-Nuremberg, Prof Krijn de Jong of Utrecht University, Prof Gregory Jerkiewicz of Queens University Canada, Prof Angelos Efstathiou of University of Cyprus, Prof Paul Chirik of Princeton University, USA marked their presence at CATSA conferences and left their footsteps towards the success journey.
