Prof Paul Hayes

Paul G. Hayes received his Ph.D. degree at the University of Calgary under the tutelage of Prof. Warren Piers in 2004. In 2004, he undertook an NSERC Postdoctoral Fellowship in the laboratories of Prof. T. Don Tilley where he developed new routes to transition metal silylene and stannylene complexes. In 2006, Hayes accepted a faculty position at the University of Lethbridge; and was promoted to Associate Professor in 2010 and Professor in 2015. He received an Alberta Ingenuity New Faculty award in 2009 and was recognized with a Confederation of Alberta Faculty Associations Distinguished Academic Early Career Award in 2010.

He was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry (UK) in 2016 and became a University of Lethbridge Board of Governors Research Chair (Tier I) in Organometallic Chemistry in 2019.

Most recently, Hayes accepted an Invitational Fellowship (Long-term) from the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science. In addition, he has served as Associate Editor of RSC Advances since 2015. His research interests are broad, but focus upon synthetic and mechanistic organometallic chemistry with a particular emphasis on the development of new chemical transformations and catalysis.
